Finding the Library in old records

Recently I was looking through old street directories for information on the families named  in the  Guildhall Time Capsule mentioned in an earlier posting when I found an interesting reference to the Derry and Raphoe Library:

‘The Diocesan Library is open for reading on each week day from 10 until 4 o’clock for persons of all denominations at a cost of 5s a- year and for reference to any person introduced by a Subscriber or by the Agent of the Hon. the Irish Society. Subscription dates from 1 st July(in advance) each year.

The Derry Almanac, North West Directory and General Advertiser for 1898.
