Dudley Binding Part II

Just out of interest I thought I should post some pictures of the Dudley Binding I wrote about last week.

As you can see from the picture above our Dudley binding is not quite as ornate as the one I posted from Lambeth Palace, but I think ours has plenty of character and some lovely tooling. As mentioned previously the leather has come away from the cover and spine leaving the sewing exposed.

While it has been exposed to some poor conditions it should be noted that the binding itself is in quite good condition with the sewing structure holding together well thanks to its alum tawed sewing supports.

Alessandro has recently begun photo and written documentation on the book, I will be sure to post some after pictures once he finishes his work.
